Cartier Women’s Initiative

Their regional and thematic awards recognize and fund talented impact entrepreneurs from around the world who are leveraging business as a force for good.

They are constantly looking for ways to extend opportunities to more impact entrepreneurs worldwide. For the 2023 edition, we have added two new Regional Award categories: Francophone Sub-Saharan Africa and Oceania.

In this section, you will find everything you need to know about the application and the selection process of the Science & Technology Pioneer Award, a thematic award that we launched in 2021.

More than ever, we need to fuel innovation by women. This award is especially dedicated to recognizing women impact entrepreneurs at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation. Open to women entrepreneurs from any country and sector, this award highlights disruptive solutions built around unique, protected, or hard-to-reproduce technological or scientific advances that require heavy R&D, a long commercialization cycle, high capital intensity, technology risk, and complexity.

A Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award has been created to encourage entrepreneurial solutions designed to close gaps of access, outcome or opportunity for communities that have been underrepresented or underserved. While the other regional and thematic awards of the Cartier Women’s Initiative focus on supporting women, this pilot award is open to all genders.

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Cartier Women’s Initiative, nine former fellows have been selected for the extraordinary impact that their businesses have achieved over the years.

The Impact Awards cover three categories: Improving Lives, Preserving the Planet, and Creating Opportunities, which are based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Three former fellows are recognized in each of the three categories. The first-place, second-place, and third-place awardees were announced on March 6, 2022, during the Impact Awards Ceremony in Dubai.

Meet these bold entrepreneurs who are leveraging business to protect the Earth’s environment, improve livelihoods in their communities, and create opportunities for a better future.

The call for applications for the 2023 edition is now open and will close on Thursday, June 30, 2022, 2 p.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST).
